Steeping E-Liquids

Steeping is the process of aging your E-Liquid over time.

Smooth Liquid makes your E-Liquid to order.  We combine the ingredients when you place your order. On some flavors, you will need to let your E-Liquid steep and blend. This is especially true for citrius flavors and tobacco flavors.

Some E-Liquids taste differenly (better, more defined) after the flavors have had time to blend.  The main purpose of steeping your E-Liquids is to allow the flavors to completely blend and also to get rid of the "perfumey" flavor that some E-Liquids have (especially citrius flavors and tobacco flavors) when they are fresh.

Some recommend letting your E-Juice with the cap off to achieve this.  We actually do not recommend this unless you can guarantee that no foreign particles (dust, pet hair, pollen, dander, insects, etc) can get into your E-Liquid bottle while the cap is off.  E-Liquid is very easy to contaminate and even the wrong little spec of dust can totally ruin the flavor of an entire bottle.

We recommend that you let your E-Liquid age naturally.  Keep the top on.  Make sure you shake it well before each use.  If you want to speed up the steeping process a little bit you can remove only the child proof cap, squeeze the air out of the bottle, let fresh air back in the bottle, and replace the child proof cap.  Repeat this a few times every day.  Exchanging the air inside of the bottle this way will let your E-Liquid "breathe" without the possibility of contamination.

Steeping your E-Liquid will also allow water that is in Vegetable Glycerin (VG) to evaporate, thus strengthening the flavor.

The best advice we can give is to taste your E-Liquid when you receive it.  If you find it tastes or smells "perfumey", or if you just don't enjoy the flavor, then let it steep for a week and give it another try.
